Today is a GOLD Day!

 

Upcoming events and dates to remember:

Feb. 3 & 4 – Middle School Musical 7:00pm at CMS

Feb. 7, 8 & 9 – Iowa Assessments Testing

Feb. 20 – NO SCHOOL – Presidents Day

 

The sixth grade teachers and students would appreciate if everyone could turn in any Box Tops they have been collecting at home: 6th graders can bring their Box Tops to their homeroom teacher, and 7th and 8th graders can bring their Box Tops to the main office. The last day to turn in Box Tops is February 24.

 

Thank you all of you who have shown interest in the Muscatine-Japan Youth Exchange program.  There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 21 at 7pm.  The meeting will be held at West Middle School in the Art Room (room 28).

The meeting will be approximately 45 minutes.  We will go over specifics regarding hosting an exchange student and your eligibility to go to Japan during the summer of 2018.  Fundraising will also be discussed.

 

Get your tickets now for the middle school musical “Elf the Musical Jr.”! Performances are Friday, February 3rd and Saturday, February 4th at 7:00pm at the Central Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 for age 6 and above. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available for purchase in the main office.

 

8th grade Parent / Student Transition Informational Meeting

Wednesday, Feb. 1st from 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Muscatine High School Auditorium

In preparation for the course selection process for the 2017-2018 school year, the Muscatine High School will be hosting an informational night at MHS on February 1st at 5:30 pm. All current 8th grade students and parents are encouraged to attend. MHS Staff members aim to ease your student’s transition into high school and this is the first step to the start of the 2017-2018 school year/ the following will be discussed:

  • Tips for incoming MHS Freshman
  • Testing and testing results
  • Rules and expectations
  • Graduation requirements
  • Course scheduling
  • Optional – parents are invited to stay and learn about Advanced Placement (AP) course for freshman – AP Human Geography

Muscatine High School counselors will begin the course selection process at the middle schools with parents and students starting the week of January 30th at West Middle School.

 

The main office has information on the Iowa Middle Schools State Bowling Championship to be held at Perfect Games in Ames, IA on March 4, 2017 at 1:00pm. This is open to students 5th – 8th grades. Entry deadline is February 27th.

 

As we begin the process of transitioning 8th grade students to MHS all parent/guardians and their student are requested to attend a one on one meeting for the MHS Course Selection Process. At this meeting, you will be meeting with an MHS Counselor to select courses for the following school year. Meetings will be scheduled through the middle school guidance office for the following dates: Wednesday, March 1st; Thursday, March 2nd, and Friday, March 3rd. Please call to reserve your time slot now.

 

WQAD is once again having their “My Favorite Teacher” contest open to all students K-12. Contest entry forms are available in the main office. Deadline to enter in February 6, 2017.

5 winning teachers will be featured on Good Morning Quad Cities (4:30am – 7:00am).

 

For your convenience all athletic and activity events can now be found on the WMS calendar.  This one stop convenient calendar will make it easy for staff, students and parents to access dates and times for all activities. Just click on the “School Calendar” tab at the top right.

 

The Attendance Office has purple NIKE athletic bags for sale for $30.00. Stop by to take a look.
