Upcoming events and dates to remember:


The Muscatine Art Center has information in the GOLD office about their spring mini classes that you can sign up for. Classes include National Audubon Day, Kid’s Saturday Workshop, Mixed Media Pets and Mini Masters.


Come to the Ricochet Movie Night Friday, April 20th 4:00 to 5:30pm. Movie shown will be “WONDER”. Everyone is welcome! There will also be a bake sale. This is a fundraiser to raise money for cancer!


Investigation U applications will be taken in the Purple Office.


There are Cheerleading packets in the GOLD office for those 8th graders interested in Freshman Cheerleading for next year at MHS.


Simpson College is proud to announce the lineup for the third year of its summer camp for middle schoolers! This one-week camp is intended for students who like to read, think about ideas, and use their imaginations. All of the ‘major’ classes are taught by full-time Simpson College professors, so it is a great opportunity for students to get a taste of liberal arts college education. Forms are located in the Guidance Office.


Do you have a talent that you would like to showcase in front of the students at West Middle School for a chance to win a prize? If you said yes, then you should try out for the talent show! Try outs will be held during homeroom and shortly after school on Monday, April 23,Tuesday, April 24, and Thursday, April 26. You can sign up for your audition time on the sheet of paper hanging in the window of the gold office. We are looking for individual, pair, and group acts, as long as everyone will be able to attend the tryout.

Join the Guy Thing Group (open to 5th – 8th grade boys) Tuesday, April 24th 4:00pm to 5:30pm.

Attention 8th grade students!  If you are 14 years old or will be by June and would like to make some money this summer, please stop by the counselor’s office to pick up information about detasseling.


There is information ion the GOLD office for the 2018 Muscatine Girls’ 5th – 8th grade Basketball Camp. Join Susan Orvis and the MHS girls’ basketball staff & team as they will teach the fundamentals and team concept through sequenced drill work, competitive play and contests. A basketball will be provided for each camper. Cost is $50.00.


Stop by the Gold office for information on the summer programs at the Y. Info on Summer Kids Club and Sports Camp, Middle School programs as well as Lip Sync Battle 2018 and Kid’s Triathlon. Contact Amy Hessle at the Y for more information.


Get your tickets for the MHS Spring Musical!  On April 26, 27 & 28 the high school will present Curtains, a musical-comedy-whodunit!  Set in 1959, Curtains follows a Broadway-bound theatre company faced with a sudden setback when the leading lady is murdered — and everyone is a suspect.  As the Boston detective works to solve the case, there are plenty of laughs and big production numbers to enjoy – featuring choreography by Muscatine’s own Benjamin Rivera!  Reserved seats can be ordered in advance using our Ticket Order Form.  Tickets will also be available at the door on show dates:  7 pm April 26, 27 & 28 and 2 pm on April 28.  Check out our website for all the info:


Muscatine Community School District “Race for the Schools” is Saturday, May 5th 2018

The 5K Run / Walk starts at 8:30am with the Muskie Mile timed run starting at 8:00am.

Cost is $20.00, after April 26th cost goes up to $25.00. Registration forms are available in the GOLD office.
