Today is a BLUE Day!

Upcoming events and dates to remember:

Apr. 15 – 2 hour early dismissal

Current 8th-11th grade football parents, we will have a Spring meeting on Sunday, May 15th at 4:15 PM in the MHS cafeteria.

2016 Muskie football players (grades 8-11), Sunday, May 15th at 5pm, we will have our Lift-a-thon letter writing night. We will meet in the MHS Commons.

Check the ‘Virtual Backpack” for information and registration forms for Muscatine Diabetes Walk on Friday, May 6 2016, the Youth Sports Foundation’s Summer Football Camp and the 3^rd annual Youth Basketball Academy benefitting the Erika Kate Hope Alliance.

REMINDER: Scooters and Skateboards are NOT allowed inside of the building.

Stop in the main office for information regarding the 2016 Muscatine Girls’ Basketball Fundamentals Camp, June 28-30. Cost is $50.00. Deadline to register is June 28^th.

Wednesday, April 20th all 8th graders will be touring MCC from 12:30 – 2:30. The bus will be here at 12:15 to board.  8th graders will get to see what a community college has to offer and attend 5 sessions of interesting activities with MCC leaders.  A tour of the campus will also be provided.

Thursday and Friday (half of 7th grade each day) will be attending the University of Iowa to see what a 4 year college has to offer. We will board the buses at 8:30 and return by 2:45.  Please wear good walking shoes as we will be going on a walking tour as well.

Yearbooks will be available to purchase for the next two weeks. Please take your $16 to the main office to reserve your copy. Make sure you get yours paid for before we run out.

Attention 8^th grade students!  If you are 14 years old and would like to make some money this summer, please stop by the counselor’s office to pick up information about detasseling.

MHS CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS FOR THE 2016 FALL SEASON are scheduled for Friday, April 29th from 4:30 – 8:30 pm in the Commons and Cafeteria. Doors will open at 3:30 pm that day to practice and warm up. Tryout material will be posted on Sunday, April 17th. All students in grades 8th-11th are encouraged to tryout!

There will be tryout prep clinics from 5:30 – 7 pm in the commons on April 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, and 21st. Prep clinics are for anyone who would like to start learning the basic skills of cheerleading and go over tryout material. The clinic on April 21st will be followed by an informational meeting at 7:00 pm in the commons.  Material review practices will be held from 5:30 – 7 pm in the commons or outside on April 25th, 26th, and 28th.

Can you sing, can you dance, can you put someone in a trance?????  If you have a talent, we want to see what you got!!!!!!  Sign-up outside the office to AUDITION for the end of the year talent show.  Prizes for 1^st – 3^rd place!!!!!!

Auditions are May 3^rd and 4^th after school from 3:30 to 5:00 in the small gym

Just remember the following:

1)  If you have music as part of your act, you need to bring it to auditions

2)  No a cappella auditions

3)  No more than 5 minute auditions

There will be a middle school dance on Friday, April 15^th from 8:00pm to 10:00pm at the high school gymnasium. There is a $5.00 admission fee at the door. The dance is sponsored by the Muscatine High School Student Council.

Attn: 8th grade parents – Muskie Booster Members needed.  The Muskie Boosters are currently recruiting new board members for the 2016-2017 Board.  Board members help with special events like Fall kick-off, Cake Auction, etc. also helping with concession volunteers.  The Muskie Boosters support all MHS sports, activities, clubs, etc. raising funds and helping keep the activities/sports going. YSF registrations for NEXT YEAR’S 3-6 tackle football, 3-6 CHEER and 5th & 6th grade girls volleyball will be held at the YSF office on Thursday, April 14th 5-8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday, April 16th from 9-noon. Only need to attend one. If signing up for football both player and parent/guardian needs to attend as the youth will be weighed and fitted for equipment. Attention 8^th grade girls: Muskie Pom tryouts will be held Saturday, April 16 at he Muscatine High School Gym from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Doors will open at 9:00am for sign-in and stretching. April 4^th there will be a tryout video posted on the Muskie Pom facebook page. On the same day, handbooks will be available at the main office. Please pick one up and have it signed by your parents before tryouts. Practices will be Tuesday, April 12 – 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday, April 14 – 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the MHS gym. Please learn the dance from the video before arriving at practices.
