Please come out and join the Muscatine High School baseball program this Friday, May 12th at 5pm for the 3rd Annual Muskie Baseball Hit-A-Thon. All players in the program will be introduced and then they will participate in a homerun derby contest. Fans will also have the opportunity to dunk our new Athletic Director Mike Morgan as well as the Muskies Head Football Coach Jake Mueller. There will also be 35 raffle items ranging from autographed baseball, pictures, and a certificate that will give one lucky winner a burrito for a year from Mami’s Authentic. Food will be provided by Hy-Vee grill. Admission is FREE.
ATTN 8TH GRADERS: What does invisible poverty look like? Did you know that 50% of people make less than $2000 a year? Did you know that 1 in 9 people didn’t eat breakfast this morning? If you’d like to learn more, a Hunger Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 7:00-8:30pm in the MHS cafeteria. The Hunger Banquet is a great opportunity to better understand what global poverty looks like first-hand. When you arrive at the event, you’ll find yourself placed in the low-, middle-, or high-class group with a meal that matches your socioeconomic status.
MHS Student Council will be hosting a Middle School Formal on May 12th at the High School from 8pm to 10pm. Formal attire is recommended and there will be a $5.00 admission at the door
8th graders that are interested in MHS Student Council next year can pick up an application packet in the main office. Applications need to be completed and turned in to the main office by Friday, May 12th at 3:30pm
Attention current MHS parents and future MHS parents:
MHS Booster Club is looking for a few energetic & committed parents to join us for the 2017-2018 school year! Did you know that the MHS Booster Club represents and supports over 65 high school clubs, activities and sports? We hold a meeting once a month at the high school and also help with concessions and other great school sponsored activities. It’s a great way to connect, meet new parents and get involved! If interested in learning more, you can contact MHS Booster parents: Carol Reynolds (carol.reynolds@kentww.com) or Joni Kerr (jonikerr@machlink.com). We’re inviting potential new members to our May 10th meeting at 6:30 in the high school commons. Come see what we’re all about!
ATTN WMS BOYS: Pick up a registration form in the attendance office for the 2017 Boys Basketball Camp being held June, 5,6, and 7. This is for boys entering grades 6-8 next year. Cost is $50.00. Registration deadline is June 1, 2017.
There are registration forms in the main office for the 2017 Muscatine Girls’ Basketball Camp June 20-23. Cost is $50.00. This camp is for girls entering 7th & 8th grades next year.
For your convenience all athletic and activity events can now be found on the WMS calendar. This one stop convenient calendar will make it easy for staff, students and parents to access dates and times for all activities. Just click on the “School Calendar” tab at the top right.
The Attendance Office has purple NIKE athletic bags for sale for $30.00. Stop by to take a look.
