Upcoming events and dates to remember:

Attention Parents of 8^th graders: This year’s Washington DC trip will take place April 9-13, 2017. There will be a parent meeting October 3^rd at 6:00pm in the library.

Tuesday’s Edition of Interesting Facts for Deaf Awareness Week
Did you know that:

1) Sign language is not universal. There are almost as many sign languages as there are spoken languages in the world.

2) American Sign Language has rules of grammar and usage as different from English as any foreign language.

3) 90% of Deaf children are born to Hearing parents.

4) The three bones in your middle ear are the smallest bones in your body, and all three could fit together on a penny.

5) The inner ear is called the cochlea. It is shaped like a snail shell and is about the size of a pencil eraser, but it contains more than 20,000 hairs or cilia. The cilia turn sound waves into electrical impulses that run along your auditory nerve to your brain.
