2) Miss America 1995 Heather Whitestone McCallum was deaf. As her talent she did a ballet dance by feeling musical vibrations and counting the measures of the music in her head. She decided to get a cochlear implant in 2002, when she couldn’t hear her injured son cry for help.
3) Sue Thomas is an American woman who became the first deaf person to work as an undercover investigator doing lip-reading of suspects for the FBI. She started a foundation called “Kennels of Levi EPEC” that trains hearing ear and service dogs for people with disabilities.

5) William Ellsworth “Dummy” Hoy (1862-1961) was the first deaf player to have a long career in the major leagues. Hoy played a pioneering role in the creation of the hand signals still used today in baseball games throughout the world.
