Franklin Families,

As the new principal of Franklin Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome you back to the 2018-2019 school year! As some of you may remember me, I taught 5th grade at Franklin Elementary for 10 years, one year as a 3rd grade teacher, and one year as an instructional coach before taking on a new position in the district as a curriculum leader at the middle schools. It is an honor and privilege to return “home” to Franklin School as a principal! I will miss Franklin’s former principal, Jason Wester. Jason served more years than any other administrator at Franklin School. It was an honor to serve under Jason as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrative mentor. He will be missed but his positive impact of building strong relationships and high academic achievement continues to flourish within the Franklin Community. We wish him the best and support his new mission as the Superintendent in Tipton Schools!

As indicated above, I have been an educator for 20 years. On a personal note, I have two sons and a stepdaughter who attend Muscatine Schools. My husband is a Quality Engineer at AllSteel. I have lived in Muscatine most of my life and graduated from Louisa-Muscatine High School back in the day. I enjoy traveling and learning about history. Mostly, I like to spend quality time with my family and friends. If you see me in the community, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and say “hello”! It will be a big process for me to go from a classroom of 24 to a building of 300 student names and faces along with parents and families. Forgive me if I take a while to learn and relearn those names and faces. Just know, each student, parent, teacher, staff, and family member at Franklin is important to me!

Finally, I want to personally invite you to see all the wonderful updates, branding, and furniture at Franklin School! It is almost like a different building so we are excited for our Franklin families to see the updated building. Please stop in and check out all the updates! Hope to see you then and throughout the school year!

Sincerely,
Julie Stoneking
