Health Services
What we doWhile health care is primarily the responsibility of the family unit, the MCSD nurses strive to promote a safe and healthy learning environment for all students. The school nurses focus on a holistic approach to minimize the health-related barriers to student success.
Departments
The Muscatine Community School District Health Services Department vision is: Optimal Health for Optimal Learning.
Services provided by the MCSD nurses include:
- Health-related screenings at various grade levels
- Student health education and school staff training
- Illness and injury assessment with first aid treatment and follow-up
- Medication administration
- Creating and maintaining student health records which include immunizations records and dental and vision screenings
- Collaboration with medical providers and student/family in the development of Individualized Health Care Plans
- Collaboration and referral to community agencies
- Health promotion across the MCSD school communities
Health Forms
The Parent Health Forms Repository is a collection of various health-related forms we provide to parents/guardians including:
- Chronic condition worksheets (i.e. seizures, allergies, asthma, etc.)
- Medication Administration forms
- Miscellaneous screening forms (required by the State of Iowa)
- Dental (Kindergarten and 9th grade)
- Vision (Kindergarten and 3rd grade)
