** Daily News & Information **

  • TODAY at NOON! Joe Wieskamp will be receiving his Gatorade Player of the Year Award today at noon in the MHS Auditorium. Please stop in and join in Joe’s recognition.
  • Girls’ Track: All girls’ track members not competing in the State Qualifying Meet should turn in all uniforms and bags to Coach Armstrong, Coach Harris, or Coach Flowers as soon as possible.
  • Girls Track Awards Banquet: The Track Awards banquet will be Tuesday, May 15 beginning at 6:00pm in the MHS Cafeteria lasting about an hour. Details to follow.
  • Boys’ Track Banquet: The boy’s track banquet is Tuesday, May 15 @ 6:30 P.M. in the MHS Commons. The banquet will be a potluck. Please bring your own table service. A Gatorade jug full of ice water with cups will be provided. Please make time to attend this event to honor the hard work and accomplishments of the athletes this season. Please bring all track gear (washed) to turn in before we eat. If you have questions please contact Coach Rusch (mark.rusch@mcsdonline.org).

    • Sophomore – Dessert or Side Dish

  • All current freshman football players, planning to play football next year, will have a MANDATORY MEETING on Tuesday May, 15th at 12:30pm in Coach Stoltzfus’ Room (11-022). Please bring a pencil. Any questions please contact Coach Truitt or Coach Mueller.
  • Seniors: Please bring back the Food Service  form that was mailed regarding lunch money that is left in their lunch accounts. This form needs to be turned in by the May 11th to Food Service. Thank You! 
  • Boys’ & Girls’ Swim Meeting: There will be a meeting on Thursday, May 10th after school @3:30 pm at the MHS pool for any student interested in being on the swim team next school year. Boys and/or girls, swimming or diving, experienced or not! Come find out what the MHS swim program has to offer you!
  • Poetry Club: This week for Poetry Club, we’ll be crafting poems to be submitted to the Writers on the Avenue Poetry Contest. Join us Thursday after school in Mrs. Walker’s room, 21-024!
  • The final Band Concert of the 2017-18 school year will be Friday, May 18th, 2018, at 7pm in the MHS Auditorium. Come celebrate our seniors with us! Admission will be $4/adult, $2/student, $10/family; Activity Passes accepted!

  • SENIORS!  Annual Student-Athlete College Commitment Ceremony: Any senior student athlete that intends to compete at the collegiate level next year may take part in our annual student-athlete college commitment ceremony on Wednesday May 16, 2018 at 12:10 pm in Muscatine Auditorium. Student-Athletes MUST meet the following criteria to be a part of the ceremony:
    • Must present documentation that you are playing for a collegiate institution (i.e a letter of intent from the school you are going to attend, something that states you are going to compete for a collegiate institution on official school letterhead). Documentation should be to the Activities office by 3pm on Friday, May 11th to be included in the ceremony.
    • Must have competed for Muscatine High School in the sport you are competing in at the collegiate institution if Muscatine offers that sport (i.e if you are swimming or playing softball collegiately, you must have competed for Muscatine and not just the club team. On the other hand, if you are going to college to compete on a Handball team, you may be in the ceremony because Muscatine does not compete in Handball or have a team.)
      This is an opportunity for us to recognize your excellence as a student athlete while at Muscatine High School, and to recognize you as compete at the next level.
  • Pizza Ranch is Hiring! Delivery drivers/Caterers (Must be 18 with clean driving record), Kitchen staff, Front of the house. Day and Night hours available. Applications available at Pizza Ranch or online at www.pizzaranch.com or in MHS Student Services.

  • Summer Employment Opportunity: Corn Detasseling – Must be 14 years old by June 26, 2018. Workers will need to attend a safety meeting June 26th from 5:45-8:00 pm at MCC . Applications are available in the Student Services Office.
  • Junior Tennis Tournament: The Junior Tennis Tournament is scheduled for July 14-15, 2018. The Boys will be playing at the MHS High School Courts and the Girls will be competing at the Weed Park Courts.   • Interested in scheduling a college visit? Go to the website of the college/university you are interested to schedule an individual visit. Stop in the Student Services Office and see Ms. Milani if you have any questions or would like assistance.

** Muskie Pride **

  • Girls’ Tennis MAC Results: Muscatine finished 5th out of 10 teams for the MAC tournament.
    • Singles: #1 Varsity player – Ellie Cahill finished in 3rd place
    • #2 Varsity player – Emma Maynard finished 4th place
    • #4 Varsity player Alex Sichterman won her first singles match, but lost the next one
    • #6 Varsity player Elise Finn won her first singles match, but lost the next one

  • Volunteers Needed at Food Pantry: Volunteers are needed to help unload food from the Stamp Out Hunger sponsored by US Postal Service on Saturday, May 12 from 2-5 pm. If interested, please contact United Way at 263-5963 or Nora Dwyer at nora.dwyer51@gmail.com
  • Volunteers Needed for Muscatine Humane Society Event-CA$H for KRITTER$: May 4 , 5 & 6.

  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at kaylaleming3@gmail.com. (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in volunteering.
