** Summer AP Assignments **

  • 2018-2019 AP Lang students please stop by Mr. Kinsey’s room​ 21-037, before the end of the year to review the summer homework and reading.
  • 2018-2019 AP Literature students please stop by Mr. Guerra’s room​ 21-033, before the end of the year to review the summer homework and join the AP Literature Google Classroom.

  • TONIGHT! Senior Night for Girls’ & Boys’ Soccer Night at the Muscatine Soccer Complex. The following changes have been made to the schedule:
    • 4:55 Introductions and Anthem
    • 5:00 Start Varsity Girls (40 minute halves)
    • 5:15 Start JV/Soph Boys (35 minute continuous clock halves)
    • 5:40ish Girls Half time (10 minutes)
    • 5:45ish Boys Half time (10 Minutes)
    • 6:40ish (When both games are finished) we will have senior night
    • 6:50 Introduce Varsity Boys
    • 6:52 Varsity Boys start (40 minute halves)
    • 6:52 Introduce JV Girls
    • 6:54 JV Girls start (30 minute half)
  • MHS Food Services Info: 
    • Café & Lunch Box WILL CLOSE for the school year on May 23
    • Taste of Italy WILL CLOSE for the school year on May 24
    • Passport & Tailgaters WILL CLOSE for the school year on May 30
    • Sub Line will stay open while supplies last
  • Seniors – Jostens Graduation Balances: Students that have a balance with their Jostens’ order  pay with cash or money orders on May 25th (Cap & Gown Pick up) or call 1-800-JOSTENS (567-8367) to pay by credit card. Items will not be able to be picked up unless they are paid for. 
  • Seniors: Senior obligations are posted outside of Student Services by student ID#. If you have fees or fines to pay please go to Attendance to pay them by noon on May 25th. For questions regarding fines/fees contact finance at the Board Office at 563-263-7223.
  • Class of 2019, 2020 & 2021: You may now log into PowerSchool and view your schedule for 2018-2019. If you have any questions or concerns please schedule an appointment with your grade level counselor. Please use the below URL that will point show you a screenshot of the list of links inside of students’ accounts.

  • State Track Meet Tickets: Tickets for the state track meet are available for purchase online. To purchase tickets, follow this link: https://gofan.co/StateTrack. There will be designated entrances at Drake Stadium for tickets purchased on GoFan. Tickets must be presented on a smartphone. For more information CLICK HERE.
  • Boys’ Cross Country: There will be an informational meeting for any boy interested in XC. Come to Mr .Foxen’s room (11-033 first floor new wing) during the 1st part of lunch Monday, May 21st. The meeting will be brief, but is important to the team’s success next season.
  • Yearbooks: If you pre-ordered a yearbook and were unable to pick up your pre-ordered book, they will be in Attendance starting Thursday morning.
  • Yearbooks: If you didn’t order a yearbook but would like to buy one they will be for sale at the Attendance Center starting Thursday morning at 7:45am for $56 on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Environmental Club will be meeting in room 12-005 (Mrs. Baillie’s room), Friday, May 18, at 12:25(second half of lunch)
  • Girls’ Track: All track girls not competing in the state meet should turn in all gear ASAP to Coach Armstrong, Flowers, or Harris. Replacement cost is $150-$200.
  • TONIGHT! 4th Annual Muskie Baseball Hit-A-Thon will be on Friday, May 18 at Kent Stein. Gates open at 5:30pm There will be food, games, and prizes! Meet your 2018 Muskies baseball teams!
  • TONIGHT! The final Band Concert of the 2017-18 school year will be Friday, May 18th, 2018, at 7pm in the MHS Auditorium. Come celebrate our seniors with us! Admission will be $4/adult, $2/student, $10/family; Activity Passes accepted!
  • TODAY! FFA Plant Sale:  Come and check out the beautiful assortment of flowers and vegetable plants!  FFA Plant Sale Info
  • Pizza Ranch is Hiring! Delivery drivers/Caterers (Must be 18 with clean driving record), Kitchen staff, Front of the house. Day and Night hours available. Applications available at Pizza Ranch or online at www.pizzaranch.com or in MHS Student Services.

  • Summer Employment Opportunity: Corn Detasseling – Must be 14 years old by June 26, 2018. Workers will need to attend a safety meeting June 26th from 5:45-8:00 pm at MCC . Applications are available in the Student Services Office.
  • Junior Tennis Tournament: The Junior Tennis Tournament is scheduled for July 14-15, 2018. The Boys will be playing at the MHS High School Courts and the Girls will be competing at the Weed Park Courts.   • Interested in scheduling a college visit? Go to the website of the college/university you are interested to schedule an individual visit. Stop in the Student Services Office and see Ms. Milani if you have any questions or would like assistance.

** Muskie Pride ** (read the Muscatine Journal for detailed info)

  • Maddy Beik takes 2nd place at the State Track Meet in the Class 4A High Jump. Maddy’s jump of 5’3” is also a personal best — a 9” improvement from the start of her senior track season. Way to go Maddy!
  • Tyler Olson also posted a personal best of 50.35 in the 400-meter dash at the State Track Meet. Updates and results from Muskie competitors at the State Track Meet can be found at: State Track Meet Results
  • Girls’ Golf win their dual vs. Dav. West 200-252. Paige Miller was a medalist with a 40, Ragan Carey-48, Ellie Howard-49, Hannah Reynolds-63.
  • Boys’ Soccer win 3-1 over Dav. Central. Goals by Jose Muniz, Brennan Broders, and one on an own goal. Assist info not available.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed for 4-H Youth: Will be assisting a group of 3 to 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away and that is based on the type of camp. For more information or if interested, please contact Dana Yerington: dana@iastate.edu or (563) 263-5701.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at kaylaleming3@gmail.com. (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in volunteering.
