2016-2017 Specific Dates and Information are forthcoming
The 2015-16 school year is quickly approaching for the Muscatine Community School District (MCSD).
Last year, the district introduced E-Registration, a feature of PowerSchool, which allows you to register your student(s) online for the upcoming school year. This year, all students are required to be registered using this feature. E-Registration will open in your PowerSchool account on Monday, July 13, and will be available through Friday, August 21. You can register your students and pay school fees online at any point during this time frame.

On July 10, 2015 families (a second email was sent on Friday, July 24, 2015), who have an email address entered into PowerSchool, will receive an email from the district, firstname.lastname@example.org, with directions to enroll your returning student online using the PowerSchool E-Registration feature. Those without an email address entered will receive the same information via the postal service on or around Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
If you do not have a PowerSchool Parent account, you will need to create one. Attached to the email message is a “Welcome Letter” that contains the information required to create your account. (You will receive a separate message and welcome letter for each student enrolled in school – each letter contains unique information per student).
If you already have a PowerSchool Parent account and need to add additional students to it, you can do so by clicking the ‘Account Preferences’ button on the main menu in PowerSchool, and then the ‘Students’ tab.
If you have forgotten your PowerSchool username or password, click the ‘Having trouble signing in?’ link that appears on the login page and answer the questions presented.

August 3, 2015, Registration
On Monday, August 3, 2015 from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm there will be a registration day at Muscatine High School for those parents who are having difficulty with their PowerSchool Accounts or cannot register online from home. We will have computers available and helpful people ready to assist you with the E-Registration process. We will also have staff on-site from each of our departments to help you with any other questions or concerns you may have.
You are not required to go to the High School on August 3, 2015 – the only reasons you may need to come to the High School are:
- You have no computer or access to the internet at home
- You need additional help with the E-Registration process
- You need to pay school fees with check or cash
- You need to speak with school personnel about specific concerns or questions
Please note, high school student photos will be taken on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm in the commons.

Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve tried to anticipate some of the questions that may come up, which we provide answers for here.
Q. After I register online with E-Registration, will I have to come to Muscatine High School on Monday, August 3, 2015 as well?
A. No. If you need to pay fees using a check or cash, turn in any paperwork, or would like to speak with somebody about specific questions you have regarding the upcoming school year, you are welcome to do so, but these things can be done at any time – you are not required to take care of them on August 3.
Q. Is registering online mandatory?
A. Yes. If you do not have a computer or internet access at home, you can come to Muscatine High School on August 3, 2015, and use one of our computers. You can also stop in at any of the school buildings after August 17, 2015 to use a computer in one of our labs.
Q. After I provide my information online through E-Registration, will I still need to complete the paper registration form?
A. No. We are no longer using a paper enrollment form to re-enroll students.
Q. Is the information I submit online secure?
A. Yes. PowerSchool uses the same encryption technology that is used by banks and other secured systems.
Q. What forms of payment can I use online?
A. The online payment system accepts credit/debit cards only. (Most major credit card types, but not American Express) It also has NO finance charges or fees.
Q. I did not receive my “Welcome Letter”, or my letter does not include my students’ Access ID or Access Password.
A. If this occurs, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the name(s) of the students you need assistance with, your name and your relationship to the student. We reserve the right not to disclose a student’s Access ID and Access Password to individuals that we cannot confirm as legal guardians.
Q. My student already has a PowerSchool account, can I use it to complete E-registration?
A. No. The student PowerSchool accounts are not designed for e-registration. The demographic and other information available to parents/guardians, as part of the e-registration process, is limited to parent/guardian access only.
Q. Can I use a mobile device to complete the E-Registration process?
A. While technically possible, we do not recommend it. The layout and amount of data works best when viewed on a laptop or desktop computer system.
