Welcome to McKinley Elementary! On behalf of the staff, I am pleased to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you!
The mission of McKinley Elementary School is to Empower Future Leaders Through High Levels Of Learning. Our visions include being student focused with a collaborative culture that effectively uses student data to adapt and differentiate instruction so all students can reach their potential.
Super Start
McKinley starts our day with 10 to 15 minutes of “Super Start,” where our students participate in a school-wide assembly. Students and staff participate in songs, cheers, and motivational activities during this morning program, where we develop our strong McKinley climate and culture. This program is run by both teachers and student leaders. One example is our weekly student news team, “This Week at McKinley.” This team provides videos of student and staff interviews that reinforce our expectations and show what is happening in our classes. These videos are shown on our large screen in the gym. We also use this time to celebrate students and building successes. We encourage families and community members to attend.
Leader In Me
McKinley Elementary is proud to be in our second year as a “Leader in Me” School. The Leader in Me initiative is based upon Dr. Steven Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. These habits focus on essential life skills, and characteristics students will need to thrive in the future. Part of the “Leader in Me” initiative includes promoting leadership in children. Specifically, we are trying to teach children how to be leaders of their own lives.
