Morning Announcements for students:

Happy Leap Day!

Friday we will be running a 2-hour early out schedule and have our Blue Zone celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony in the afternoon.  We ask that all students and staff wear comfy clothes and shoes that are suitable for walking!

Book Battle Lunch in the Library –  7th grade Tues. March 1, 8th grade Wed. March 2.  Book 3 is due Wed. March 2. Bring your lunch and sit with your team. Talk strategy and prepare yourselves for battle!

Congratulations to our GT Students who competed at Math Counts today.  Our State qualifiers are:

Chloe Finn, Noah Miller, Alex Oppel, Josh Thomas, and Whitney Winter.  Good luck at State!

Congratulations to Karena Jenson and Laura Comstock on a fine performance last Saturday at the Young Musician’s Honorband held in Cedar Rapids.

Congratulations to Dillinger Thomas on his advancement to the state geography bee.  Dillinger will be representing CMS on April 1.  Way to go Dillinger!

Library books on hold for Josh Thomas, Elise Finn, Nyla Medley, Shaylinn Honts, Jose Ocampo, Miles O’brien, Ashley Brugman and Dalmier Torres.

Today the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams play their last games of the season. 8th grade are away at North Scott Lancers. 7th grade play the Lancers at home. Go Chargers!

If you are interested in going out for Track and Field, sign up in the Attendance Office. Practice begins after Spring Break.

Any 8th grade students who have questions about their 9th grade schedule please stop down to the Counselor’s office and see Mr. Kulland.

As flu season approaches, it is very important for us to monitor students that are ill, so that we can take schoolwide precautions. If your child texts you to let you know that he or she is ill, please notify the main office and ask for our nurse. By doing this, we will be able to give your child appropriate medical care, as well as determine our school wide precautions. Thanks for your understanding and support!

Notes from the Athletic Department:

All forms listed below need to be on file at school in order to participate in any athletic activity and practice, these are available in the attendance office or on the CMS website.

To be able to participate the student needs to have the following forms turned in~

CMS Athletic Form with a student and parent signature

An up to date physical *parent signature is needed on this form

Heads Up:Concussion Form with a student and parent signature

ATTN: GOLF SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The Tony Robison Memorial Golf Membership Scholarship is open to all students in grades 8-12. The main criteria is the desire to play golf: not based on grades or financial need. The award is a one year junior golf membership at Geneva Golf and Country Club. Athletic eligibility is not affected. Once awarded, if selected individuals do not use it, it will be re-awarded to another individual. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2016. Applications are available at West Middle School, Central Middle School, Muscatine High School Athletic Office.

Date: Registration at the YSF office anytime from Monday March 7th- Monday March 21st deadline

Time: 9:00-4:30 P.M.

Location: YSF Office in Muscatine ( 2923 Cedar Street, Suite 3 )

Total Cost: $40.00 and includes your team t-shirt ( if there is still openings, a $10.00 late fee after March 29th )
