Parents/Guardians of children who qualified for free or reduced meals prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic Closure AND those students who attended the Community Eligibility Provisions (CEP) schools of Franklin, Jefferson, Madison and McKinley:
The state of Iowa has been approved to operate the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), which provides assistance to families of children eligible for free and reduced-price meals during school closures. The EBT benefit ($307.80 for each eligible child) is to offset the cost of meals that would have otherwise been consumed at school. **Those attending the above listed CEP schools will receive a P-EBT card regardless of income.
🚨An EBT card (one per student) will be arriving at your house via mail sometime between July 14 and July 21. Do NOT throw this away.🚨Â
It will look like junk mail (plain white envelope). The card will be addressed to your child and have a return address from Austin, Texas.Â
The FAQ (https://dhs.iowa.gov/P-EBT_FAQ_Page) provides answers to many questions that you may have regarding this benefit (i.e. how to activate the card, approved expenditures, etc.). Please take a moment to read through the information provided.
