Prom and CAPE Info: Guest forms are available in the AP office (room 12-001B). If you plan to bring a guest to Prom or CAPE that is not attending MHS, you will need to have a guest form filled out and approved before you pick up tickets. All guests must be at least a Jr./Sr. or have graduated from high school, and cannot be older than 20 years of age. REMEMBER—CAPE is FREE and you can attend even if you do not go to Prom. If you have questions please see Mrs. Chatfield in the AP office.

** Athletic Event Cancellations/Postponed **

  • The JV Girls’ Golf meet has been cancelled for today, April 3, with Bettendorf. Practice will still be held, please meet in the Student Services office at 3:30 pm. 
  • The Girls’ Varsity Track Meet for today, April 3, has been postponed.

  • Seniors: There are 10 seats available for the Senior Six Flags Trip — All fees/fines need to be paid along w/ trip full payment by Friday, April 6th! (Full Payment/Permission Slips Due) Senior GradNite at Six Flags
  • Pom Tryouts: Saturday, April 7th at 8:00am in the Main gym.  Tryout practices are Tuesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4 from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the MHS Main Gym. They will learn the routine these two nights. We will also be taking videos if people cannot attend the practices. If they cannot attend tryouts, they need to let us know ahead of time and we will set up a time before Saturday to record them and show the judges on Saturday.   • Juniors: MHS will be offering a college visit to St. Ambrose University in Davenport on next Wednesday, April 11th. We will meet by attendance at the start of first period (8:20) and will visit St. Ambrose from 9:15 – 11:15. We will return in time for lunch at MHS.   • Prom Tickets: The Junior class presents an Evening of Elegance. Prom 2018 will be Saturday, April 21st from 8-11pm at the new Merrill Hotel in downtown Muscatine, IA. Tickets will be sold in front of Student Services during lunch Monday, April 2nd through Thursday, April 12th. Only 550 tickets will be sold!  Tickets are $20 per person (juniors and seniors only). Outside guests need to be approved by the Assistant Principal. Please see the AP office for more details. Please do not wait to purchase your tickets. No tickets will be sold the week of prom.
  • MBAEA Driver Education – Muscatine High – April 9 to 29
    Class Time: Monday -Thursday 5:30-8:30 pm in Rm 11-022 & 11-024. Driving lessons after school and weekends. Vehicles are parked in the Cedar St. parking lot. Please bring a pencil/pen to classroom instruction.
  • Catholic Daughters Scholarship: Three $1,000 scholarships for the 2018-2019 college/university year. The applicant must be a Catholic Senior girl graduating from high school and must be a member of Ss. Mary & Mathias parish. Applications can be picked up in the student services office or from the Ss. Mary & Mathias parish office. Completed applications should be returned to the student services office on or before April 30, 2018.
  • MHS Baseball: Any one interested in playing high school baseball this summer is invited to attend tryouts beginning Monday, April 30 at 4:30pm at Tom Bruner Field.   • Revised! Grant School Alumni: Attention all 9th- 12th Grade Grant School Alumni!! We are seeking out former Grant School seniors who are willing to showcase their leadership skills and speak at our Leadership Day on Tuesday, April 17th in the morning.   • Interested in making a difference in your school and community? Join Student Council! The 2018/2019 StuCo application packets are at Attendance Office for pickup. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Walsh, room 12-008, on Wednesday, Apr. 18 at 3:30pm. Interviews will be scheduled at a later date.   • Junior Tennis Tournament: The Junior Tennis Tournament is scheduled for July 14-15, 2018. The Boys will be playing at the MHS High School Courts and the Girls will be competing at the Weed Park Courts. Attached is a flyer to spread the word to for players, students, organization, and parents, about this tennis playing opportunity, AS WELL AS, asking for help to clean up the MHS Tennis courts on Wednesday, July 11th to remove all the pine needle debris and litter, in preparation of the tournament starting on July 14th!   • Carnival After Prom Extravaganza (CAPE) 2018 is looking for adult volunteers to help during the CAPE event which follows prom on April 21, 2018, at MHS (11:30-3:30am).  This is a fun event for adults to volunteer their time and have a safe environment for our MHS students!   • Photography Contest – Muscatine McDonalds: The Muscatine McDonald’s is looking for some unique photos from Muscatine High School students, to be permanently displayed on the walls of their restaurant!   • Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge (near Wapello) is currently accepting applications for our Youth Conservation Corps crew for this summer! The crew, made up of (4) 15-18 year olds, works for 8 weeks in the summer on a variety of habitat conservation, biological, and maintenance jobs. Youth Conservation Corps Info
  • Sophomores & Juniors: The Muscatine Rotary club is sponsoring a youth leadership program held at Grinnell College from July 15-20 for students in the class of 2019 and 2020.
    The cost of the program is covered by the Rotary club. We encourage your students to apply using the online link. A committee will review applicants and recommend them for participation.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Silver Cord hours available for students! Students, faculty, staff, and community, the boy’s track team is in need of workers to help at their home track meet on Monday, April 2nd. Workers will report between 3:45-4:00 P.M. There are a variety of jobs available including field event workers, exchange zone judges, hurdle setters, and result runners. Students, this is an opportunity to earn silver cord hours. If you are willing to help, please contact Coach Rusch (, Coach Foxen, or Coach Truitt. 
  • Junior Tennis Tournament Committee is looking for volunteers on July 11th following the tournament for court cleanup from 5 pm to 7 pm. A free pizza lunch will be provided for the volunteers work on. To learn more about this tournament and the volunteer opportunities associated with it, go to
  • McKinley Elementary is looking for student volunteers to help with our carnival on April the 7th. We are looking for students who are willing to work from 10:30-1:30. This would be helping with carnival games, selling tickets, etc. Volunteers will be provided with free lunch. Please text to Joelle at 260-7122 and let her know if you are interested in this opportunity to earn Silver Cord hours.
  • Volunteers are needed for the Girls’ Track Meet – Dick Washburn/Muskie Invitational on March 22nd starting at 3:45 pm.  If interested, please contact Coaches Tim Armstrong, Rebecca Harris, or Bill Flowers.
  • Volunteers are needed for the Jefferson Carnival on Friday, April 6th from 4:30-7:30. Anyone interested in volunteering can email Sarah Manjoine at before the end of March.
  • Grant Elementary School is hosting their spring carnival on Friday, March 23rd. We are looking for volunteers to run games, hand out prizes, and more from 4:30-7:30 pm. Free dinner is provided! Please contact Jessi Freers at or 263-7005 if interested.
  • Volunteers for Girl Scouts: “Want to help the at risk youth in your area? Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is looking for volunteers! We are looking for students who want to make a difference in young girls’ lives by providing them with Girl Scout opportunities they might not otherwise have. Currently we are looking for students to help at cookie booths in Muscatine and the QC area as well as Girl Scout programs. If you are interested in hearing more or signing up to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your area, Amy Green, at or (563) 823-9940 x302.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed at ISU Extension & Outreach: Volunteers will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away based on the type of camp. Orientation will be held in early March of 2018 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick with days camps that they would like to assist at throughout spring break and summer.
