Get your tickets for the MHS Spring Musical! On April 26, 27 & 28 the high school will present Curtains, a musical-comedy-whodunit! Set in 1959, Curtains follows a Broadway-bound theatre company faced with a sudden setback when the leading lady is murdered — and everyone is a suspect. As the Boston detective works to solve the case, there are plenty of laughs and big production numbers to enjoy – featuring choreography by Muscatine’s own Benjamin Rivera! Reserved seats can be ordered in advance using our Ticket Order Form. Reserved Seating Forms also available at the MHS Attendance Center. Tickets will also be available at the door on show dates: 7 pm April 26, 27 & 28 and 2 pm on April 28. Check out our website for all the info:

  • ALL events scheduled for April 9th have been cancelled or postponed (Girls’ Golf, Boys’ & Girls’ Track Meets @ North Scott, Boys’ Soccer vs. Bettendorf)

** Daily News & Information **

  • Students taking Chinese 2, 3, or 4 next year… Would you like to meet the new Chinese teacher? She will be here Thursday, April 12, and you have the opportunity to ask questions and let her know what you’ve learned so far. If interested, please come to the World Language Office (23-018, next to the French room) at the start of 6th Period Thursday and have your questions ready!   • Prom and CAPE Info: Guest forms are available in the AP office (room 12-001B). If you plan to bring a guest to Prom or CAPE that is not attending MHS, you will need to have a guest form filled out and approved before you pick up tickets. All guests must be at least a Jr./Sr. or have graduated from high school, and cannot be older than 20 years of age. REMEMBER—CAPE is FREE and you can attend even if you do not go to Prom. If you have questions please see Mrs. Chatfield in the AP office.
  • Prom Tickets: The Junior class presents an Evening of Elegance. Prom 2018 will be Saturday, April 21st from 8-11pm at the new Merrill Hotel in downtown Muscatine, IA. Tickets are on sale in front of Student Services during lunch through Thursday, April 12th. Only 550 tickets will be sold!  Tickets are $20 per person (juniors and seniors only). Outside guests need to be approved by the Assistant Principal. Please see the AP office for more details. Please do not wait to purchase your tickets. No tickets will be sold the week of prom.
  • Carnival After Prom Extravaganza (CAPE) 2018 is looking for adult volunteers to help during the CAPE event which follows prom on April 21, 2018, at MHS (11:30-3:30am).  This is a fun event for adults to volunteer their time and have a safe environment for our MHS students!   • Students Registered for Driver Education – Muscatine High – April 9 to 29
    Class Time: Monday -Thursday 5:30-8:30 pm in Rm 11-022 & 11-024. Driving lessons after school and weekends. Vehicles are parked in the Cedar St. parking lot. Please bring a pencil/pen to classroom instruction.
  • On Wednesday April 11th, MCC will bring their business faculty to meet and greet with all prospective business students.   Please attend, even if you don’t plan on going to MCC.  It is a great way to learn about business as a career.  Meeting will take place in the Guidance Counselor’s office at noon.

  • The MHS Cheer Program would like to invite you to tryout for our 2018 Fall Season. Cheer clinics will be held April 17, 19, 24, and 26 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the MHS Gym. We will have tryout practices May 1 & 3rd from 6 pm to 7 pm in the MHS Gym. Tryouts are the morning of May 5th in the MHS Gym. Tryout packets are available at both middle schools and the high school.   • Catholic Daughters Scholarship: Three $1,000 scholarships for the 2018-2019 college/university year. The applicant must be a Catholic Senior girl graduating from high school and must be a member of Ss. Mary & Mathias parish. Applications can be picked up in the student services office or from the Ss. Mary & Mathias parish office. Completed applications should be returned to the student services office on or before April 30, 2018.
  • MHS Baseball: Any one interested in playing high school baseball this summer is invited to attend tryouts beginning Monday, April 30 at 4:30pm at Tom Bruner Field.   • Seniors: Please join us for College Decision Day on April 27, 2018. Come and join the celebration to recognize your postsecondary plans. All high school seniors planning on attending a degree or certificate program or are entering the military. Treats will be provided.   • Revised! Grant School Alumni: Attention all 9th- 12th Grade Grant School Alumni!! We are seeking out former Grant School seniors who are willing to showcase their leadership skills and speak at our Leadership Day on Tuesday, April 17th in the morning. If you are interested in sharing how The Leader in Me (7 Habits) have made a positive impact on your life or how you will continue to apply these skills post secondary school, please email Jessi Freers at for more information and to reserve your spot for that special day.
  • Interested in making a difference in your school and community? Join Student Council! The 2018/2019 StuCo application packets are at Attendance Office for pickup. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Walsh, room 12-008, on Wednesday, Apr. 18 at 3:30pm. Interviews will be scheduled at a later date.   • Junior Tennis Tournament: The Junior Tennis Tournament is scheduled for July 14-15, 2018. The Boys will be playing at the MHS High School Courts and the Girls will be competing at the Weed Park Courts. Attached is a flyer to spread the word to for players, students, organization, and parents, about this tennis playing opportunity, AS WELL AS, asking for help to clean up the MHS Tennis courts on Wednesday, July 11th to remove all the pine needle debris and litter, in preparation of the tournament starting on July 14th!   • Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge (near Wapello) is currently accepting applications for our Youth Conservation Corps crew for this summer! The crew, made up of (4) 15-18 year olds, works for 8 weeks in the summer on a variety of habitat conservation, biological, and maintenance jobs. Youth Conservation Corps Info
  • Sophomores & Juniors: The Muscatine Rotary club is sponsoring a youth leadership program held at Grinnell College from July 15-20 for students in the class of 2019 and 2020.
    The cost of the program is covered by the Rotary club. We encourage your students to apply using the online link. A committee will review applicants and recommend them for participation.

  • West Middle School Track is in need of volunteers for the Middle School Track Meet on April 10 at MHS. Time – 4:00 – 6:30/7 (be there around 3:50). If interested or for more information, please contact Marcy Duffe at or Dan Wright at
  • Junior Tennis Tournament Committee is looking for volunteers on July 11th following the tournament for court cleanup from 5 pm to 7 pm. A free pizza lunch will be provided for the volunteers work on. To learn more about this tournament and the volunteer opportunities associated with it, go to
  • Volunteers for Girl Scouts: “Want to help the at risk youth in your area? Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is looking for volunteers! We are looking for students who want to make a difference in young girls’ lives by providing them with Girl Scout opportunities they might not otherwise have. Currently we are looking for students to help at cookie booths in Muscatine and the QC area as well as Girl Scout programs. If you are interested in hearing more or signing up to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your area, Amy Green, at or (563) 823-9940 x302.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
