  • Boys’ Substate 4 Finals Basketball Game Information – Linn-Mar vs Muscatine:
    Tuesday, Feb. 27th@ U.S. Cellular Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa – 6:30 pm

    GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS: Doors will open for ticket sales at 5:30 pm. All fans must purchase admission tickets.  Tickets are $6. Tickets will be available for purchase at the end of each parking ramp skyway and also at the main box office located in the grand lobby. Children of pre-school age will be admitted free. Senior citizens will be charged full adult admissions. All ticket sales are CASH ONLY.

    SEATING AREAS: Muscatine will be the Visiting Team. As the “visitors”, Muscatine will sit on the south side (the 1 st Ave. side of the arena) across the team benches. The student section will be across the floor from your own team’s bench (Section 104). No students are allowed to sit in the riser sections (R104 and R111).  US Cellular Center Map
    Fans will not be permitted to storm the court following a win. BANNERS, SIGNS, HOOPS, NOISE MAKERS, BALLOONS, ETC., ARE PROHIBITED: The prohibition against artificial noisemakers, includes but is limited to megaphones (except used by cheerleaders in uniform), cow bells, thunder sticks, sirens, clackers, cans with marbles, coins, or rocks inside and various other creative noise making devices.     The cost of the pep bus is $10, which includes: 

    • The cost of the ticket into game ($6)
    • Transportation to and from the game
    • A light meal (double cheeseburger, cookie and a water) on the way to the event from the O’Brien Family McDonald’s in Muscatine.
  • This week is Senior Survivor!  February 26-March 2, six teams will compete for the title of Senior Survivor. Each team is raising money for a local, state, or national charity. They will be participating in several challenges throughout the week in hopes of winning more money for their chosen charities. There are three community challenges open to spectators. Please come out and support your seniors and charities next week: 
    • Wednesday, Feb. 28thCommunity Challenge in the MHS pool, 6:30-7:30pm. Cost is $3 at the door. Freewill donations may also be given to your team/charity of choice at the event.
    • Thursday, March 1stCommunity Challenge in the MHS gym, 6-7:30pm. Cost is $3 at the door. Wear your favorite team’s color to the event.
  • The Library Cafe will be closed today.
  • Juniors: The ACT is tomorrow! Please get a good night sleep and come prepared with your COMPUTER CHARGED, scratch paper, something to write with and a CALCULATOR. Students testing at the Musco Dome will be transported by buses leaving MHS around 8:20 a.m. Good luck!

  • Boys’ Track Parent Meeting: There will be a parent meeting March 1, in Coach Rusch’s room (21-022) @ 6:00 PM
  • Prom and CAPE Info: Guest forms are available in the AP office (room 12-001B). If you plan to bring a guest to Prom or CAPE that is not attending MHS, you will need to have a guest form filled out and approved before you pick up tickets. All guests must be at least a Jr./Sr. or have graduated from high school, and cannot be older than 20 years of age. REMEMBER—CAPE is FREE and you can attend even if you do not go to Prom. If you have questions please see Mrs. Chatfield in the AP office.
  • New Silver Cord Opportunity: See Silver Cord section below.
  • Boys’ Soccer Practice will start on March 12 at 3:30pm on the MHS Turf.
  • Kickball Tournament – To bring awareness to tobacco/nicotine and Kick Butts Day 2018: Wednesday, March 21, 2018 3:30-5 pm, Muscatine High School Gym. Tournament is sponsored by Fuel the Future and MHS Key Club. Sign-up by March 8th at the Attendance Center.

  • Boys’ Tennis Meeting: Coach Kiser, boys’ tennis coach, will have a tennis meeting after school on Thursday, March 1 in Room 21-030. Anyone interested in playing tennis needs to attend this meeting.
  • Boys’ tennis practice starts March 19 at 4:00pm at Weed Park. Be sure to have all of your paperwork filled out prior to the first practice. Check with Mrs. Watson in the Athletic Office.
  • Carnival After Prom Extravaganza (CAPE) 2018 is looking for adult volunteers to help during the CAPE event which follows prom on April 21, 2018, at MHS (11:30-3:30am).  If you are interested, please contact Amy Fortenbacher at 410bocr@gmail.comDriver Ed information can be obtained from the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency (MBAEA) website –

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Grant Elementary School is hosting their spring carnival on Friday, March 23rd. We are looking for volunteers to run games, hand out prizes, and more from 4:30-7:30 pm. Free dinner is provided! Please contact Jessi Freers at or 263-7005 if interested.
  • Volunteers for Girl Scouts: “Want to help the at risk youth in your area? Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is looking for volunteers! We are looking for students who want to make a difference in young girls’ lives by providing them with Girl Scout opportunities they might not otherwise have. Currently we are looking for students to help at cookie booths in Muscatine and the QC area as well as Girl Scout programs. If you are interested in hearing more or signing up to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your area, Amy Green, at or (563 )823-9940 x302.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed at ISU Extension & Outreach: Volunteers will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away based on the type of camp. Orientation will be held in early March of 2018 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick with days camps that they would like to assist at throughout spring break and summer.   • Juntos is in the process of organizing a Juntos series at the high school. We are looking for two students interested in earning Silver Cord or volunteer hours to provide child care for the following dates: February 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and March 1st from 5:30 – 8:00 pm.
    A meal will be provided. Students who are interested can email Jennifer Zamora at
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
