  • NO SCHOOL – Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of President’s Day.
  • Boys’ Soccer Meeting – Any boy interested in playing soccer this year, there will be a meeting on Feb. 23rd at 4:00 pm in the Commons.
  • American Sign Language Club – NO Sign Language Club on Feb. 21st. Our next meeting will be on Feb. 28th from 3:30-4:30 in room 11-021.
  • All boys basketball players and their families are invited to the Muscatine Boys Basketball Awards Banquet on Thursday, February 23rd at 6:00 pm in the Stan Howe Commons. Please bring a dessert. If you would like to bring either bottled water or soda, please contact Coach McDonald in advance at gabe.mcdonald@mcsdonline.org
  • Muscatine Girls Track Gear for Sale – If you are interested in buying Muscatine Girls Track gear for your family, we have set up a team store @ http://stores.teamelitesports.com/muscatine_girls_track with a portion of each purchase coming back to support Girls Track. There is a wide assortment of t-shirts, sweatshirts, long sleeves, and sweatpants, so please take a look – we’ve got gear starting at just $10.
  • S.O.A.P. (Students of Active Prayer) will have TWO meetings this Thursday night from 7:30-9:00. Each will have a guest speaker. Boys will be at 2723 Birdie Lane. Girls will be at 1229 Northwood Lane. Everyone is welcome. See leaders if you have questions or need a ride.
  • New Scholarships – see Scholarship section below.
  • Key Club – We have a meeting THIS Friday at 7:30 am in the Auditorium. Bring your Thirst Project money & DCLC Registration. There will be donuts!
  • Part-time and Summer Job Opportunities with Girls Scouts – The Outreach opportunities run year round and Summer Camp runs June-August. Must be 16+ years old. GS Brochure    GS Information
  • February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, 1 in 3 adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of dating partner abuse. Middle School and High School Students can submit a poster for Teen Dating Violence Awareness month, posters are due February 20th. Flyers for the poster contest can be found in restrooms around the school. Prizes include: $100 Walmart gift card, movie tickets to the Rave, Buffalo Wild Wings sauce crate & wing coupons, Rejuvenation Station samples and gift certificate, 4 tickets to Lumber Kings & a bobble head, gift certificate to 2nd St. Station and gift certificate to Main St. Café.
  • Students – If you are in the building after 4 pm and are not participating in any activity, the approved waiting areas are the Cafeteria and Commons.

  • Reminder – Girls’ Tennis – There will be a meeting for any girl interested in going out for Girls’ Tennis on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 3:45-4:15 pm in the Commons.
  • Boys and Girls Parent/Player Soccer Meeting – There will a boy’s soccer parent/player meeting on March 5th at 4:00 pm in the Commons. The girl’s parent/player meeting will be on March 5th at 5:30 pm in the Commons.
  • Girls and Boys Soccer Players – If you played soccer last year, an email/link has been sent to your school email account to pre-order your soccer practice set.   • Seniors – Ad for Grads Baby Picture(s) can be picked up at the Attendance Center.
  • MHS Yearbook Purchase Cut-off Date – The last day to order an MHS Yearbook is February 24th. Purchase at the Attendance Center – $56 or online at http://www.jostens.com/apps/store/productBrowse/1071525/Muscatine-High-School/2017-Yearbook/2016060704174414759/CATALOG_SHOP/
  • Muskie Bands still have Koeze nuts and chocolate items available!  Get yours before the product is all gone!  To purchase please call 563 299 6045 or see any band student.
  • Boys’ Track will start Tuesday, February 21, at 3:40 PM. If you have questions, please contact Coach Rusch at mark.rusch@mcsdonline.org
  • Talent Show Auditions – The MHS Talent Show is back and will now be hosted by Key Club and UNICEF Club! If you are interested in participating, there are informational packets available at the Attendance Office. Auditions will be on Wednesday, February 22 from 7:30-8:00 am OR 3:30-4:30 pm in the auditorium. The act must be school appropriate. The date of the actual Talent show will be Thursday, March 9th from 8:30-10:30 am.   • The Iowa Engineering Society-Muscatine Chapter (Muscatine, Louisa, Des Moines counties), Engineering Week Banquet will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 21. All students, families, and faculty are invited to this annual event for a unique look into the engineering profession. The main emphasis of this event is student interaction with real engineers. Students, please bring any questions you have about math, science, or engineering. Engineering Week Flyer

  • Excellence in Education – The following scholarships and awards are available:
    • Twenty senior scholarships ($3000 each)
    • Ten Eighth grade student scholarships ($1000 each)
    • Four professional awards ($1000 each)
    • One support staff award ($500)

  • Grant Elementary is still looking for volunteers to help at the Grant Carnival on Friday, February 24. The carnival is from 5:00-7:00 pm. Volunteers need to arrive at Grant at 4:30 pm for instructions.  Please contact Jaimie Caffery, Grant principal at jaimie.caffery@mcsdonline.org if you are interested.
