  • Environmental Club will be meeting TODAY, Friday, October 6th in room 12-005 (Mrs. Baillie’s room) at 12:30.
  • Fall Bash Dance: Are you ready to glow? The Fall Bash Dance will be on Saturday, October 21st from 9-11 pm in the MHS Cafeteria. Entrance fee is $5 at the door. Bedeck yourselves in white and neon colors for this blacklight extravaganza! Glow sticks, necklaces, and bracelets will be sold on sight, as well. Invite all your peers to come out for a night of fun and fellowship!
  • Boys’ Track Meeting: There will be a boys’ track meeting on Tuesday, October 10, during the first part of enrichment in Coach Rusch’s room (21-022). If you plan on or are thinking about participating in track this spring, please attend the meeting. If you have questions, please see or email Coach Rusch (mark.rusch@mcsdonline.org).
  • JUNIORS – Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award: Up to $6,500 to be used for furthering your education will be awarded. Juniors will need to submit a project proposal and two letters of recommendation. Submit the online application which is available on the Hoover Presidential Foundation website: www.HooverPresidentialFoundation.org/grantsawards/uncommon_student.php
    Deadline is March 15, 2018.
  • General Physics Help Session: Mrs. Joslyn is offering a General Physics Help Session this Saturday, October 7th from 7-9 am in room 12-010.
  • New Scholarship: See Scholarship section below (Feb. 2018)
  • MHS Orchestra Masquerade Concert: On Monday, October 9th, the MHS Orchestras will be presenting their Masquerade Concert. The concert will be at 7:00 pm in the MHS Auditorium with a $2 admission. The concert will feature 3 orchestras with pieces ranging from electric rock to greek-mythology to Led Zepplin. The orchestra will also be dressed in Halloween costume for the concert. Join us for a great evening of music!
  • Key Club Meeting THIS FRIDAY! Everyone is welcome at 7:30 am in the auditorium (remember your $15 dues)!!
  • Juniors: If you have signed up for the PSAT test please stop in the Student Service Office to pick up the prep book and information on time and place.Juniors: Just a reminder that the last chance to sign up for the PSAT Test is coming soon (next Monday, 10/9). There are a limited # of tests and we currently have about 40 remaining before we must close the sign-up.   • Seniors: Baby ads for the yearbook are due October 6th. Baby Ad Form
  • Driver Ed information can be obtained from the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency (MBAEA) website – https://www.mbaea.org/en/student_programs/driver_education/

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Muscatine Branching Out is looking for volunteers to help deliver pre-purchased trees on the corner of 4th and Mulberry on October 14th from 8:45 am – 12:00 pm. If interested, please contact Jeanne Johnson at jajohnso52@yahoo.com
  • Senior Resources is looking for volunteers to help run kids’ games at the Memories Start With Us Walk, Run, Ride benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association on October 14 anytime from 7:00 am – 1 pm. If interested, please contact Angela or Shannon at (563) 263-7292.
  • Youth Sports Foundation is looking for students to work the YSF concessions on Sundays. If interested, please contact Jim Miller at 563-288-2541.
