Go Muskies!
- Tonight (Feb. 26th), the MHS 9th Grade Orchestra will be in concert with the Central Middle School Orchestras. The concert starts at 6:00pm at the CMS Auditorium and is Free! We hope to see you there!
- Golf Scholarship opportunity:
The Tony Robison Memorial Golf Membership Scholarship is open to all students in grades 8-12. One male and female will be selected. The main criteria is the desire to play golf: not based on grades or financial need. The award is a one year junior golf membership at Geneva Golf and Country Club. Athletic eligibility is not affected. Once awarded, if selected individuals do not use it, it will be re-awarded to another individual. Deadline to apply is April 3, 2015. Applications are available at West Middle School, Central Middle School, Muscatine High School Athletic Office.
- Seniors: If you have NOT picked up your local scholarship information, please stop in the Student Service Office to get those. The due date for the Local Scholarship Packet is Friday, March 6th at 4:oo pm. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- College Goal’s night will be held at MCC – Gaekle Hall on February 26th from 4 – 6 pm. This will be one of the best places to get 1-on-1 help with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which can be a difficult process. You can also get advice from financial experts, receive scholarship information, and learn about next steps. You are highly encouraged to attend. You will want to have your family’s income tax returns and create a pin prior to arrival. This can be done at: https://pin.ed.gov/PINWebApp/pinindex.jsp

- Information Session for Prospective College Athletes
– Monday night, March 9th in conjunction with Parent/Teacher Conferences
– 6pm-7:30pm MHS Commons
– Topics covered will include information on:
athletic scholarships, different levels of competition, recruiting, NCAA Clearinghouse, college selection, and many other related topics
-The MHS Counseling staff will be presenting the information
-Any coaches, parents, or students interested in these topics are encouraged to attend
- Girls’ Basketball Banquet: The girls’ basketball banquet will be held on Sunday, March 1st from 1:00-3:00pm in the Commons. All freshmen, sophomore, and varsity managers and players are invited to attend, along with their parents.
- Boys Soccer: There will be a Soccer Boys parents and players meeting on March 1st at McKinley elementary school at 4:00 pm. Anyone interested in playing soccer and current players are strongly encouraged to attend with their parents. The upcoming season and team expectations will be discussed. Seasonal apparel will be available to try on and order. Please make arrangements to attend.

- HS will be providing the ACT test to all 11th grade students this year at no cost to the student. The date for testing will be Tuesday, April 28th. The testing will take place at Muscatine High School and also at an off campus location. Please contact Mr. Nienhaus if you have any questions.
- Graduation Announcements will be distributed on Tuesday, March 10th during lunch. Please call 1-800-JOSTENS to pay by credit card or debit card by this date. Cash and Money Orders are the only forms of payment accepted at school on this day. Your account must be paid in full in order to pick up your items at school on Delivery Day.

Boys Tennis – Any boy interested in playing tennis this year should attend a meeting after school on Tuesday, March 3rd in Mr. Ramos’ room (11-037). Any questions should be forwarded to Mr. Ramos.
- Crossroads will host the 2nd Annual Transition Fair in the MHS Commons on April 8th from 2-5pm. Everyone is invited to this opportunity that will offer information related to services available to individuals with any type of disability. Many local services providers will be on hand to answer questions and help students and families become aware of the options and services that are available in Muscatine and the surrounding area. Please contact Kristyn Manjoine at MHS extension 1167 for additional information.

- Muscatine Youth Baseball – 2015 Baseball Season Sign-ups
Muscatine Youth Baseball is a non-profit organization that helps put baseball in the lives of our youth from ages from 7 to 17. We want our kids to have fun and learn about the great sport of baseball. First year players need to provide a birth certificate upon signing up. Cost is $50 per player for the 2015 season. - Musser Public Library will be hosting a test prep session for all High School students on Saturday, February 28th from 5:30-7:30. The session will introduce students to a great new online resource that provides help to students for the ACT, SAT, and AP Exams. The session and resource is free – and pizza will be provided for all who attend on February 28th!
- Attention High School students! Experience Shanghai International Camp. High school teens from over 20 countries. July 21st – July 30th. Five students from Muscatine will be chosen to represent the USA. Informational meeting on Saturday, February 28th at Musser Library. - 2015 Science Fair – If your student has an interest in participating, please have them see their science teacher for an entry form and details as soon as possible. Entry form deadline is Wednesday, March 4.
- PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES will be held:

March 11th (Wednesday) – 4:00 – 7:30 PM
March 12th (Thursday) – 1:45 – 3:45 PM
All conferences will be walk-in held in the teacher room.

- “Have any books you don’t use, and no longer need? MHS Teen Library Committee [TLC] Is hosting a book drive to donate such books to the Flickinger Learning Center and other schools. Book drop off areas are at the Attendance Office and in the library. The book drive will last until spring break so hurry and get those books in!”

Student Athletes – If you are interested in participating in a spring sport at MHS, now is the time to turn in the needed paperwork! Please stop by the A.D. Office at your earliest convenience to make sure you are ready to practice when the season begins.
