- Juniors and Seniors: Prom Specials are available at Paul Mitchell the School in Davenport. Specials include Up Style and Makeup Application for $25.00 by appointment only. 563-323-4700
- Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors: Augustana College is offering a Summer Academy for enhanced summer learning opportunities. The academy’s 14 courses range from 1-5 days in length. Additional information is available at www.augustana.edu/summeracademy Registration is open until May 15, 2015.
- New scholarships have been added for Juniors and Seniors – see below.
- MHS Girls and Boys Swimming – Anyone interested going out for swimming next year — there is a Mandatory Swim Meeting on Friday, March 27 at 6:30 AM in the pool area. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Judd Anderson.
- Muskie Bands invites everyone to the 12th annual swing dance on Saturday night, March 28, from 6:30-10 pm in the commons. Cost is $6/person, and there will be decadent desserts available for purchase and lots of dancing! Swing to the tunes performed by the MHS jazz band, MHS jazz ensemble, WMS and CMS jazz bands, and the River City 6 Dance Band!
- 2015 AP Testing Information – AP Tests can be ordered in the MHS Student Services Office through Wednesday, March 25th. Please see the attached document Ap Testing-2 for specific tests, testing dates, and cost. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Hawkins.

ACT Prep for Juniors will begin this week.
Juniors with last names beginning with A through K are to report to the auditorium for the second half of lunch on Wednesday, March 25. Eat first. If assigned to an Enrichment, you will be excused on that day. Bring your laptop charged.

- MCSD Race for the Schools – 5K/10K and 1mile fun run will be held on Saturday, May 2nd 2015 at the Muscatine High School.
Once Again this year: Race for the Schools is now part of the Muscatine Running Club’s Grand Prix circuit.
- The 5K/10K starting time is 8 am, and the 1 mile Fun Run begins at 9 am.
- This event is designed to promote physical fitness within both the community of Muscatine and the Muscatine Community School District.
All proceeds benefit each Muscatine School and the Muscatine Community School District Foundation.
- Registration forms are available at all Muscatine School buildings (see FY15 Race Form-1 link) and at the Muscatine Schools Administration Center. - Student Athletes – If you are interested in participating in a spring sport at MHS, now is the time to turn in the needed paperwork! Please stop by the A.D. Office at your earliest convenience to make sure you are ready to practice when the season begins.

- Silver Chord/Volunteer Opportunity: The MCSD Early Childhood Department is looking for 2-3 qualified students to provide childcare for preschool-aged students.

- Juniors: Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award:
The Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award is a $5,000 scholarship program for Iowa high school juniors. The program annually identifies and honors up to 15 Iowa high school juniors who propose and then accomplish a project of their own choosing and design. Grades, test scores, essays and financial need are not evaluated.
The next application deadline for the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award is March 31, 2015. To apply, students must be juniors in an Iowa high school or home schooled program in the spring of 2015, with a high school graduation date of spring, 2016. First District American Legion Glenwood Long Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship is available to a graduating senior who is a member, son, daughter, grandchild, brother, or sister to an American Legion or Auxiliary member. The application is available in MHS Student Services. Due date is May 1, 2015.

Leo H. Grether Memorial Scholarship: IHSMA is offering a $2,500 scholarship to students enrolling in college as a vocal music education major. Other criteria apply. See application and other information in MHS Student services. Due date is April 15, 2015.

Children’s Cancer Connection: Scholarship values range from $500-$5,000. Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer and must plan to attend a 2 or 4 year university. Application and other information are available in MHS Student Services. Due date is May 29, 2015.

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) (Rock Island Post) Due April 1st: The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Rock Island Post, has a scholarship trust fund to encourage and support talented students in their pursuit of careers in engineering and the physical sciences. For 2015, SAME is offering a combination of one-year and four-year scholarships to qualified students who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in these fields.
One-year scholarships will be awarded at the $1,000 level to a combination of graduating high school seniors and student members of the University of Iowa SAME Student Post. SAME will award the scholarships to the students who best fit the criteria (download the application below). In selecting scholarship recipients, graduating high school seniors and University of Iowa SAME Student Post members will be ranked separately.
Four-year scholarships will be awarded at the $4,000 level ($1,000 per year for four years) to graduating high school seniors. The Post will award the scholarships to high school seniors who best fit the criteria. The benefits to these scholarships include sponsorship to SAME and future mentor connections that can be invaluable to the student. These scholarships are offered to graduating seniors from several local high schools in the Quad Cities Area.
The Rock Island Post shall determine the scholarship recipients in April based on applications postmarked by April 1, 2015. Scholarships will be awarded at a SAME meeting, or at the school if time permits. - Nursing Schools Almanac Scholarship: Nursing Schools Almanac is proud to announce our inaugural Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. We will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:
Competition eligibility: This scholarship competition is open to all US high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs.
Applicants must be in good academic standing and on track to graduate from high school at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year. Only one application entry is accepted per student.
Important dates:
June 30, 2015: Submission deadline for scholarship applications is 11:59pm PT.
July 2015: Scholarship committee will meet to review all applications received.
August 2015: Winner will be notified and $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.

- KWQC Broadcast Scholarship: (2) $1,000 scholarship awards are available to students who are accepted to a college and planning to enroll in broadcasting classes. Students must also reside in the KWQC viewing area. Applications are available in MHS Student Services with a postmark due date of May 8, 2015
- ASHRAE Scholarship: ASHRAE scholarships are designed to encourage and assist heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and refrigeration education through the granting of a scholarship at the undergraduate level. The program also serves the public interest in aiding in the education of men and women to become qualified to practice as engineers or technicians in the HVAC and/or refrigeration field.
ASHRAE Scholarships are available to students enrolled in any school provided the curriculum in which the student is enrolled is accredited by an agency recognized by ASHRAE and the student is pursuing a course of study which has traditionally been a preparatory curriculum for the profession of HVAC and/or refrigeration.
Basic criteria on which all scholarships are granted are as follows:
Prior academic performance – A minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Recommendations from instructors and references.
Character, involvement in other activities and leadership ability.
Potential service to the HVAC and/or refrigeration profession, and involvement in ASHRAE chapter or student branch activities.
Applications shall be postmarked no later than April 15, 2015. The following data must be submitted:
Completed and signed application form.
A letter of recommendation from Professor or Faculty Advisor.
Two or more additional letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with applicant’s character, accomplishments and likelihood of success in the HVAC and/or refrigeration industry.
Applicants will be notified of the Selection Committee’s decision by April 24, 2015. The winner will be invited to attend the Chapter’s monthly meeting on April 30, 2015 to accept the scholarship.

- The Catholic Daughters Scholarship is available in the Student Service Office. Deadline is April 17, 2015.

Trinity Muscatine Friends Scholarship: There are 3 categories for applicants, each is for $1,000: 1) High School seniors with any major 2) High School Seniors who are dependents of Trinity Muscatine employees–any major 3) Any prior graduate who is studying a health care related field. Applications are available in MHS Student Services, Trinity Muscatine Friends Window Box Gift Shop and Main. Lobby/Front Desk. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2015.
- Golf Scholarship opportunity:
The Tony Robison Memorial Golf Membership Scholarship is open to all students in grades 8-12. One male and female will be selected. The main criteria is the desire to play golf: not based on grades or financial need. The award is a one year junior golf membership at Geneva Golf and Country Club. Athletic eligibility is not affected. Once awarded, if selected individuals do not use it, it will be re-awarded to another individual. Deadline to apply is April 3, 2015. Applications are available at West Middle School, Central Middle School, Muscatine High School Athletic Office.

- Donald Kiser Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must plan to pursue studies in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering. Applications are available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 3/31/2015
- Edward Bitzer–American Legion Unit 27 Scholarship: $500 scholarship. Application is available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 4/15/2015
- Iowa Section PGA–Charlie Burkart Scholarship: $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for 4 years). Application is available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 6/12/2015
- ACACIA Leadership Scholarship for University of Iowa: Up to $2,000 scholarship available to any male high school graduate entering University of Iowa. Should show excellence in academics, extra curricular activities, and community involvement. Application is available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 4/30/2015
