Muscatine Youth Baseball signups are just around the corner! MYB is a non-profit organization that helps put baseball in the lives of our youth from ages 7 to 17. We want our kids to have fun and learn about the great sport of baseball. First year players need to provide a birth certificate upon signing up. Cost is $50.00 per player for the 2015 season. Sign ups will be at the Muscatine Mall on the dates below:

Saturday, March 7^th              10:00am to 3:00pm

Monday, March 9^th                5:30pm to 7:30pm

Wednesday, March 11^th       5:30pm to 7:30pm

Saturday, March 14^th            10:00am to 3:00pm

Saturday, March 21^st                        10:00am to 3:00pm

We want every player to be eligible to play, so NO PLAYER WILL BE TURNED AWAY. Payment arrangements can be made.

The Muscatine Community YMCA is hosting a Middle School Dance on Sat. Feb. 28th  7:30-10:30pm. Tickets are just $4 and are on sale now at the Y. Don’t wait till the night of the dance, they may be sold out and the cost goes up to $5. There will be a DJ, open gym, dodgeball, wallyball and contest throughout the night. Chaperones are always needed, contact Amy Hessel at the Y to chaperone or for more information

Any 8^th grade boy interested in trying out for the MHS high school baseball team will have the opportunity to do so on May 4^th. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Colón at West Middle School (563) 263-0411 or edwin.colon@mcsdonline.org

The Muscatine Community Y is having a sports camp over spring break! Join the Y staff for some fun and games, team building and fitness. $60.00 for members, $90.00 for non-members. Check the main office or call the Y for more info.

Tuesday, February 24th is the WMS Orchestra Concert at 6pm in the WMS Large Gym.  Students should report at 5:30pm to the gym with their own instrument and music.  Students need to wear black on bottom and white on top.  Please see Ms. Blanchard with questions.

The West Middle School Choir concert will be Thursday, February 26^th at 6:00pm in the large gym. Students need to arrive by 5:45pm.

Attention 8^th grade Parents: It’s that time of year in which we begin our transition process for your student to MHS. Mr. Welsch, a high school counselor will be making classroom visits on February 19^th to go over the course selection process. Students will be given a curriculum book to help guide them in selecting their courses. All high school counselors will then be back on February 25^th from 7:45am to 1:30pm, February 26^th and 27^th from 7:45am to 5:45pm to meet with each student and parent/guardian to assist in selecting high school courses. Please call the West Middle School Counseling Dept. to schedule a time for your individual meeting. Each meeting will last approx.. 15 minutes. All times will be scheduled on a first call basis.

It’s that time of year again to nominate a student or teacher/staff member for an Excellence in Education Award. Student and teacher/staff nomination forms, as well as a list of 8th grade students and Seniors will be in the main office for your reference. Please note that the following deadline for nominations: Closing date is February 24, 2015. For the nomination to be considered it must be received by: email – must be sent no later than 4:30 p.m., February 24, 2015, US Mail – must be postmarked no later than February 24, 2015,hand delivered to the Board Office no later than 4:30 p.m. February 24, 2015.

Attention 6^th graders: Time to register for the Youth Sports Foundation Spring Co-Ed Track & Field. You can register anytime at the YSF office Monday, March 9^th thru Friday, March 20^th (deadline). Office hours are 9:00am to 4:30pm and is located at 2923 Cedar St. Suite #3. Cost is $35.00 and includes a team t-shirt. Call Joni Kerr at the YSF office (563-288-2541 for more information.

It’s that time again to sign up for City League Softball! This league is open to all girls age 7 to 18 (no older than 18 on May1. 2015). Sign ups are at the Muscatine Mall by Berlins Pro Shop and dates are as follows:

Feb. 25^th 4:00pm to 7:00pm

Feb. 28^th 9:00am to 1:00pm

Mar. 1^st 1:00pm to 4:00pm

These are the only dates for sign up! If you miss these dates, you will NOT be able to play on a team this year. Call Angie at 563-506-3162 for more information.

Lifetouch Spring pictures will be Tuesday, February 24 starting at 8:30am.
