  • The MCSD & River Bend Mobile Food Pantry takes place TODAY (04/12/22) at the MCSD Admin Center located at 2900 Mulberry in Muscatine. Food distribution will take place from 4:30 until 6:00 pm. This will be done via a drive-thru model with volunteers loading food into your vehicle. Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes early. This mobile food pantry is open to all Muscatine residents regardless of income.
  • Prom Tickets are on sale through Thursday, April 14th in front of Student Services before school and during lunch hours. Cost per ticket is $20.
  • A representative from CAPE will be at MHS outside of Student Services during A & B lunches starting Tuesday, April 19th – Thursday, April 28.  Starting April 19th, please pick up a liability waiver from the CAPE representatives and then return the COMPLETED waiver to the CAPE representatives to get your free CAPE ticket. Each person must have a CAPE ticket. You do not need to be attending Prom to attend CAPE. All juniors and seniors in good standing as well as pre-approved guests are invited to CAPE. CAPE will take place from midnight – 3:00AM on May 1, 2022 in the MHS Commons and Gym.
  • 2-Hour Early Dismissal- Wed., April 13, 2022 (We will follow the 2-hour Early Dismissal Schedule)
  • NO SCHOOL – Friday, April 15, 2022 (Non-contract day)
  • NO SCHOOL – Monday, April 18, 2022 (TQ Inservice)
  • MHS Drama Department will present the musical  NEWSIES! on April 21, 22 & 23!  Shows are Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 7:00 pm, and Saturday at 2:00 pm.  Performances are held in the MHS Auditorium.  Plan now to join us for this very entertaining, family-friendly show!  Based on the Disney movie, NEWSIES! tells the story of the newsboys strike of 1899 in New York, when kids stood up to powerful newspaper moguls, demanding fair treatment and leading the way toward the eventual creation of child labor laws in America.  Tickets go on sale March 31st via the online box office:  Muscatine  All seats are only $8 when purchased in advance, online!  Online box office is open up to 15 minutes prior to the start of each performance.   Tickets are $10 if purchased at the door, day of show.  Please note that we cannot accept any passes for this event.

  • MHS Activities for the Week of April 11, 2022: Activities on Tap – Week of April 11, 2022
  • Silver Cord Opportunity: Grant Elementary is hosting a huge event on Friday, April 22 from 4:00-6:30 pm.  It will have food trucks, carnival games, bounce houses, auctions and much more.  We are in need of student volunteers to help with the carnival games and bounce houses, etc.  If anyone is interested they can contact Leslie Bennet at
  • Interested in Becoming a Heavy Equipment Technician Upon Graduation? Altofer CAT will be holding their first Technician Career Day event at their Davenport store and would like to invite high school students and their parents to attend their Technician Career Day Event on Saturday, April 23rd starting at 9:00am to 10:30am!  Technician Event  & RSVP Info
    There are so many opportunities at Altorfer.  This is a great career choice for students who are mechanically inclined. We will have snacks, beverages, goodie-bags, a shop tour and a lot of great information about the program. We still offer tuition reimbursement for those who are accepted into the ThinkBIG program!   • Silver Cord Opportunity: This Tuesday, April 12th, there is a junior high track meet at the MHS Stadium.  Volunteers are needed to take time and help with field events.  All volunteers would earn silver cord hours.  If you have interest in helping from 4-7 PM next Tuesday or have any questions, please contact Mr. Kulland in Student Services.
  • Silver Cord Opportunity: Camp Wyoming (located in Jones County, Iowa) is in need of volunteers this summer.
    • Female Volunteers Only: Our TTT (pronounced Tri-T) summer camp program serves close to 100 4th grade girls a week from under-privileged homes throughout Iowa. Volunteer counselors assist our camp staff and help lead the girls in activities like swimming, arts and crafts, kayaking, and games, as well as supervise them in their cabins at night. TTT Volunteers are needed the weeks of June 5-10 and June 12-17. Volunteers must be current juniors in high school or older to apply.
      Earn 120 volunteer hours with one week of service!
    • Male and Female Volunteers: Our traditional summer camp programs serve children and youth between the ages of 5 and 17. These programs are religious in nature, so volunteers must be comfortable working and participating in a Christian program. Volunteer counselors assist our camp staff in caring for campers and leading activities like swimming, kayaking, archery, and Bible study, as well as caring for the campers at night. Volunteers are needed during the weeks of June 19-24, June 26-July 1, July 10-15, July 17-22, and/or July 24-29. Volunteers must be current juniors in high school or older to apply.   • MHS Colorguard: If you are interested in MHS Colorguard we will have four mini sessions where you can try out the equipment and learn short routines.  You are welcome to come to one or all four sessions. They will be held every Thursday in April from 7pm to 8:15pm at the First Baptist Church’s Gym, 3003 Mulberry Ave.  This is a great chance to try out colorguard to see if you would like to become part of the team.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Carolyn Hurlbut at

  • MCSD Student School Board Representative Application: This application is for current Sophomores (who will be a junior next fall).  It is a 2 year commitment.  The application is now open and the deadline to complete the application is April 22.  Interviews will be held in May.  Interested students will need to ask for 2 references and at least 2 teacher recommendations.  (References and Teachers will use the same application.)   • The Genesis Adventures in Nursing Summer Camp (GAIN) will be held July 18-22, 2022, for high school students who may be interested in a nursing/healthcare career.  Campers will be introduced to different specialties in health care, and participate in activities such as a mock trauma in the emergency department, a mock childbirth, dissection lab, visit the new surgical suites, visit the simulator lab and learning center, learn first aid and CPR, and so much more! Applicants who have completed 9th grade through 2022 high school graduation are invited to register for GAIN camp.

  • The First Light Corridor at Sunrise Galleries (114 E 2nd St., Muscatine) is proud to present the Muscatine High School AP Studio Arts Class 2022 Gallery Show! MHS student art will be on display from March 26-April 16.
  • Need a Tutor?  If you are struggling in classes and are needing some help, please respond to this email by using the google form   Please include your name, the class you are struggling in, and the teacher you have for that class.  Tutoring can happen in Muskie Time, before or after school.   • PROM – Juniors & Seniors: April 30, 2022 at The Merrill Hotel, 8-11PM. 
  • Carnival After Prom Extravaganza (C.A.P.E.) – Juniors & Seniors: This year, C.A.P.E. will be held after prom from 12:00AM-3:00AM May 1st at Muscatine High School. C.A.P.E. provides an evening of fun after the dance with a variety of games and activities such as Casino Games, Bungee Run, Human Soccer Balls, Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, Bingo, Air Brush Artist, Photo Booth, unlimited food and GREAT PRIZES! Students can attend C.A.P.E. even if they choose not to attend the dance. Security will be provided. This is a FREE event!  C.A.P.E. tickets are FREE and will be available at a later date.  Please watch the announcements for when and where they will be available!

  • Google Classroom: All high school staff use Google Classroom to display assigned work. If your child is missing from school, they can always access their work via Google Classroom. As a parent/guardian, you can request your student’s teachers to add you to their assignment list so that you will have “View Only” access. 
  • Meal Viewer Link Students & Parents can look at the menus online for MHS. There is nutrient information as well as allergen information. There is also an app available for cell phones. 

** Class of 2022 Information **

  • REMINDER! Seniors – Post Graduation Senior Survey:  This is just a friendly reminder that in order to pick up your cap and gown, you will need to complete the Senior Survey (Post Graduation) in PowerSchool. This is a survey that the State of Iowa requires and it will not take you very long to complete it. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Mauck.
  • Senior Students Meal Accounts:  Please be aware of your lunch account balance.  If you owe money, this will need to be paid by May 13, 2022.  If you have money left in your account, please click on the link below to let the Food Service Dept. know what you would like done with the money that is leftover.  Senior Meal Account Letter

  • Any MHS Seniors who have donated blood at least 6 times are eligible for the IMPACT Award (formerly called the Gallon Grad Award) at graduation. Email Mrs. Keltner ( if you believe you are eligible for this award or if you have any questions! 
  • Seniors who are or intend to attend Muscatine Community College next year: MCC Foundation is extending the MCC scholarship deadline for students planning to attend Muscatine Community College in the 2022-2023 academic year. In addition to new applicants, students who started an application for the March 1 deadline, will be able to complete and submit their original application. Applications can be submitted now through August 1, 2022.  Awards will be made as completed applications are received and funds are available. Apply at:
  • REMINDER! Senior financial obligations are posted outside of the Athletics and Activities Office by student number. These obligations include all outstanding financial obligations to date. Any unreturned supplies or equipment before the end of the year could result in a higher obligation. Senior obligations need to be paid at the Attendance Office prior to graduation in order for students to participate in the graduation ceremony. If the obligations are a burden to your family or if you have any questions, please contact Wendi Schmelzer at (563) 263-7223 ext. 1012 to discuss payment arrangements.

  • Athletic Punch Pass/Card for adults are $40 and can be purchased at the MHS Attendance Center or at the gate during events. This Punch Card allows you 10 admissions into all sporting events except regional & state competitions, most vocal, orchestra, and band events, and the fall drama production.
  • Student Activity Passes are available for sale at the Attendance Center for $50. This pass allows you admission into all sporting events except regional & state competitions, most vocal, orchestra, and band events, and the fall drama production.

  • Silver Cord Form:  Students recording hours of volunteer service during their years at MHS will be awarded a Silver Cord to wear at graduation. In order for volunteer hours to count towards a Silver Cord, STUDENTS must complete the online form to verify. Silver Cord Form
  • ALL STUDENTS DRIVING TO SCHOOL: ALL students driving to school will need to complete a Vehicle Registration Form for a new MHS Parking Tag.  This parking tag will be used for until the Class of 2025 graduates.  The form is available online Vehicle Registration Form, MHS Attendance or Student Services office. Completed forms should be returned to the Student Services office. Students with a new MHS Parking can park in the Bonnie Dr. or Cedar St. parking lots.
  • DOT Minor School License Form: DOT Minor School License Form Forms are available in the MHS Main Office – Rm-11-001. (You must have completed Driver’s Ed in order to submit this form.)  Instructions: Please complete Sections 1 and 3. (Leave Section 2 blank) and return to the Main Office.

  • Volunteers are wanted to tutor/mentor Ms. Nietfeldt’s 5th grade students at Mulberry Elementary in various types of class work. The times that work best for Ms. Nietfeldt are Monday through Friday from 10:15 – 11:15AM and 11:30 – 11:50AM. If interested, please email her at

  • Rebuild Together Muscatine County is looking for volunteers to assist in building wheelchair ramps for our community for those people who put in an application. We build these ramps in sections and all sections are pre-built in our shop.  Today we have quite the backlog of ramps, and in such, we could use help on building ramp sections.  No skill level is needed as we will take any student and certainly guide them through the process keeping safety as a top-priority.  We will provide the tools, the materials, and the instructions.  It would be ideal if we were to set this up 4 students at a time, and we are flexible on day/time availability.     • The student is not paid for the service

      *140 hours are required for students in the Class of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
      *160 hours are required for students graduating in the Class of 2024.

  • Yearbooks: If you would like to purchase an MHS 2020-21 yearbook, cost is $56.
  • Did you or someone you know attend Muscatine High School during the 2012 through 2015 school years? If so, this is your chance to purchase a yearbook that reflects those school years and memories! Each yearbook is $20 until sold out. All proceeds go back into the Yearbook Club to purchase new equipment and expand the program for students. To purchase, call the Activities Office at Muscatine High School at (563) 263-6141 and ask for Mindy.
