Student Registration Timeline and Locations for the 2018-19 School Year

July 16, 2018 – PowerSchool Registration opens for returning families (online) and new families.

PowerSchool Registration Parent Guide

July 16, 2018, through the start of school (August 23, 2018) – Those requiring help with PowerSchool Registration can register at their home school*.  Staff is on hand Monday – Friday between 8 am and 4 pm.  (All families will complete the registration process via computer.)

August 1, 2018 – Extended Hours Available – On August 1, the schools will open at 10 am and stay open until 6 pm for those who work during the day and require assistance.  The only reasons a parent should have to come to a building on August 1st to register online are:

  • If you are unable to use PowerSchool Registration at home.
  • If you need help using PowerSchool Registration to register your student.
  • If you need help and you work hours that don’t allow you to come into the building during the normal 8 am to 4 pm times.

*Don’t know which attendance area you reside in? Visit the district’s School Boundary Look Up Tool. Type in the address of your child. If the address does not show an attendance center, call the Transportation Department at 563-263-7288. They will be able to help you.

*What if I want my child to attend a different school than the attendance center in which we reside?
You will need to apply for a Voluntary Transfer. Approval is based on enrollment at that particular attendance center. You may still register your student; however, the student will be temporarily placed in the attendance center in which you reside until approval of the transfer is received from the district office.

*What if I live in a different school district (Wilton, L&M, etc.) but want my child to attend Muscatine Schools? You will need to apply for an Open Enrollment. You will NOT be able to enroll/register your student until the Open Enrollment is approved by the approving district.

Preschool Registration

Our district preschool programs for 3 and 4 year olds are full at this time. We do have some openings in the Community Partner Preschools such as Wonder Years, Happy Time, Guardian Angel and A Child’s Place. Head Start is full. Please contact the Community Partner Preschools directly or call Toni Schmitt at the district office at 563-263-7223 if you need further assistance.

Families with Existing Students

All families are required to use the PowerSchool Registration system.  As such, every family of a current MCSD student should already have a PowerSchool Parent account as well as an account with the online fee payment system, InTouch.  In order to complete the PowerSchool Registration, you will need to log in using that account.

If you need to add additional students (for example, a new Kindergarten student) to your existing PowerSchool account, you can do so by clicking the ‘Account Preferences’ button on the main menu in PowerSchool, and then the ‘Students’ tab. You will need an Access ID and Access Password for each student you need to add.  You can get that information by calling your student’s home school.

If you have forgotten your PowerSchool username or password, click the ‘Having trouble signing in?’ link that appears on the login page and answer the questions presented. PowerSchool will email you additional instructions assuming it matches the email address you provided on file.  If you do not receive any email messages within 10 to 15 minutes, try the other email addresses you have access to (Maybe a work email address you might have used?).  If you continue to have problems, please do NOT create a new account. Contact either your student’s home school for additional assistance or send an email to and someone will be happy to help you.

You can also call or stop by your student’s home school for additional assistance or send an email to
